ABOUT THE SITE AND
US
In May of 2000 Roni
MacLean's daughter Shae-Lynne was born. In the weeks, months and
even years following her birth, hospital admissions, doctors
appointments, tests, and procedures became the way of life and
through it all was one very sick little girl.
Diagnosed with GERD (Gastro Esophageal Reflux Disease), nothing
seemed to be helping the child. Frustrated and feeling helpless,
MacLean started researching the disease shortly after Shae-Lynne's
diagnosis, hoping if she learned enough she would find a solution or
cure. What she learned instead was that there wasn't one, and that
there were many others in Shae-Lynne's situation.
Since she had not been successful in helping her daughter with her
GERD, MacLean wanted to reach out and help others going through what
they had been through. In 2001 she started Shae-Lynne's personal
website at
www.infantrefluxdisease.com and included information on reflux
and GERD. Because of the overwhelming response MacLean received from
this website she knew more needed to be done. She continued
researching, started writing and together with her mother (Jean
McNeil)
Life on the Reflux Roller Coaster was born. This highly
acclaimed "must read" was the first book published in the world
dedicated entirely to infant reflux.
MacLean's dedication to raising awareness continues and as the
initial website expanded, Shae's personal site got moved to it's own
domain making way for the original site to continue growing with
information on infant reflux and GERD.
